Mercury CC is the first (1938-1942) of the three models of the series (CC-1500 and CX). If we compare it with the other models of my collection, the CX, we realize that it is a little smaller. In the case of the CC, the film 35 mm are contained in a cartridge of which the parts external of the axis are shorter. This reel did not require to be rewound in film end (two cartridges were needed), it thus does not have there a button of rewinding. On the CX which uses cartridge 135, this button exists.

The hemispherical part of the cap which protects the rotary shutter is used as support with a depth of field table. The name “model CC” appears on the back part of this table. On camera back, there is an exposure table.

The two buttons, located above the lens, are used to arm the shutter (on the left) and to regulate speed (on the right). On the CC, the shutter allows speeds of 1/20 and 1/1000 , plus the exposures into 1 and 2 times. Contrary to the CX, the counter is located at the base and the button of winding. The setting of the distance is done while turning the large ring graduated in feet. The lens is interchangeable, without there being trace of other focal distances in the literature. The lenses (all 35 mm) can be Tricor 3,5 (on the model presented) or Tricor 2,7 or one Hexar 2,0. It is what explains why the table depth of field starts to 2. The fact that Universal considered the interchangeability of the lenses could explain the existence of the two fash clip. The finder (vertical, since it is about a camera taking of the photographs 18 X 24 mm) has besides two small marks corresponding to another focal distance. The CC has two points of fixing for strap, of each side of the bump. Curiously, and without nothing, technically, justifying it, they will disappear on the CX. The CC has in frontage the name “Univex”, not the CX.
